Coffee shops have always been more than a place to grab a cup. They’re a community hub. Being one in the Excelsior neighborhood is a true honor. This district thrives on its rich cultural history, rooted in hardworking immigrant families and dreamers carving out a space for themselves. Along the Mission Street corridor, life moves for families, elders, and everyone in between, and Excelsior Coffee is proud to be part of that scenery.

We’re committed to our neighbors, to the stories that make this neighborhood vibrant, and to shaping its next chapter. Our mission is to add to the tapestry of minority-owned small businesses that protect the authentic, electric spirit of this corner of the city. And like our namesake, we keep moving ever upward. Bold, intentional, and unapologetically flavorful, just like the coffee we serve.

WHO WE ARE

Partners in life and passion, Lea and Andre met in this seven-by-seven city and have spent 13 years riding side by side—on scooters, cars, and motorcycles—tackling all 48 hills while planting roots in the Excelsior District.

Lea brings a love for numbers, cross fades, and perfect jumpshots. Andre is a local high school educator, a history buff, and a hands-on car enthusiast. Together, they’re united by a shared obsession: coffee and cultivating culture, one thoughtfully crafted cup at a time.
